Consultations are based on a basic three-phase system:
1) The initial stage is offered as a Primary Read. As my first introduction to writer and work, this read is both the most thorough and the most important. The result of this phase is a detailed breakdown of notes, big and small, made available to the writer.
2) If a writer chooses, we can set up a more personal consultation via conference call or meeting. This Follow-Up can be valuable as a forum to present any further questions or concerns and to begin building a deeper working relationship.
3) If necessary, the writer can opt for a Second Pass. This phase is similar to the first, though less intensive. Usually, at this point, the writer will have a much firmer notion of what is needed from the script and where it might still be lacking. These more specific questions and concerns become the angle of my return to the project.
Again, the end result is an accumulation of written notes that can be mailed (electronic or otherwise). It’s usually all that’s necessary but a second conference call can also be arranged if the circumstance dictates.
